Regional Institute of Education-RIE is affiliated to the Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training-NCERT was established in 1961 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to prepare quality teachers in Science, Humanities, Commerce, Agriculture and Technology. Consequently, four Regional Colleges of Education at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Mysore were established as constituents units of NCERT. Regional College of Education, Ajmer was set up in the year 1963. Later it was renamed as Regional Institute of Education-RIE, Ajmer in the year 1995. It looks after the educational interests of Northern Region comprising the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Ajmer is well-known all over India as a historical and religious place of pilgrimage as well as an educational centre. It owes this reputation partly to the Regional Institute of Education-RIE. The Institute is situated six km. away from the Ajmer Railway Station in midst of idyllic surroundings with the historic Anasagar Lake in front and the Aravali hills all around. It is almost equidistant from the world famous Dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti beyond the lake and the holy place of Hindu pilgrimage, Pushkar, at the back. This Institute, with its spacious buildings, playgrounds, gardens, lawnsand farm is spread over 110 acres. its courses are recognised by the NCTE, New Delhi. It is controlled and managed by the NCERT. The management committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the affiliating university performs the advisory role on matters of academic interest.
Regional Institute of Education-RIE offers different Kind of courses such as B Sc, B Ed, Phd Program and M ed Elementary.
Regional Institute of Education-RIE has got one Dispensary, running under the charge of a Medical Officer, for providing Medical facilities to the students and members of RIE, Ajmer. It also provides medical facilities to the students of Demonstration Multipurpose Sr. Secondary School, Ajmer and Primary School which are integral parts of RIE, Ajmer.
The hostel rooms are furnished with beds, tables, chairs, fans and electrical fixtures. Each hostel has a kitchen, a dining hall, a recreation and common room with the facilities of T.V. and indoor games. The rooms are used to accommodate both the regular students and the participants coming to the Regional Institute of Education-RIE to attend the various extension programmes.
A Guest House having six double seated rooms and a dormitory for ten persons has been newly constructed at the campus. It also has a well-equipped seminar room to facilitate the organization of different activities and programmes of Regional Institute of Education-RIE. Apart from the new Guest House, there is one more Guest House to accommodate guests.
