Initially the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences - Cochin was established as the Department of Social Work at Sacred Heart College. During that time one year diploma in Social Service was offered and the college was affiliated to Madras University. In 1968, the Post Graduate Department of Social Work was ahifted to Kalamassery in Rajagiri from Sacred Heart College. In 1980, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences - Cochin was given the status of Independent College and affiliation was given by Kerala University.
The facility centre at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences - Cochin campus has a snack bar with tea and coffee, an STD, ISD booth, facility for making calls from a one rupee coin, instant Photostat facility. There is also the facility for DTP training. Wide , ventilated , split-level classrooms equipped with microphones , OHPs and LCDs have been ergonomically designed for maximum class participation. Specially designed chairs and collapsible table tops fitted with book racks ensure independent and comfortable seating facility.The computer lab is equipped with 60 networked PCs provided with software packages that are user friendly and are widely used by students and faculty alike to process information , create presentations or work on assignments.
In the computerized and networked library, the students can trace more than 8,250 latest titles related to the field of Management. These are supplemented with around sixty five management journals and an extensive collection of videos , CDs and other reference material. The library is divided into three broad sections, namely the reference book section, the journal section and the newspaper and magazine section.
Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls have been provided with special emphasis on cleanliness, comfort and convenience. The hostels are situated close to the campus to facilitate the arrival and departure of students who need to use the library and computer lab after college hours.Rajagiri College of Social Sciences - Cochin functions can be conveniently held in the Chavara Hall which has a seating capacity of more than 1000. There is also the facility of an air conditioned hall with a seating capacity of 200 , which is used for smaller gatherings.
