The courses range from mandatory courses to short value-added courses - many of which, are mainly specialized training courses on gas, chemical and oil tankers.
At Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies - SIMS Mumbai facilities include unique hands on equipments like a down sized stainless steel tank of a chemical tanker, bridge simulator with 240 deg. Field of view, liquid cargo handling simulator, main engine manoeuvring simulator, hydraulic and electric trainers etc. In addition to practical hands-on training, SIMS provides a TOTAL and ALL-ROUNDED learning experience where our seafarers are also trained in the “soft” aspects of bridge team and behavioural management.
Spread out over a floor area in excess of 20,000 sq feet, Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies - SIMS Mumbai provides unique hands-on training on state-of-the-art simulators and various equipment as well as a wide range of professional value-added training courses to our main sponsor ESM’s officers and ratings. The simulators include the only 240º field of view bridge simulator presently in India, an engine room simulator and a liquid cargo handling simulator – all loaded with programme modules based on present vessels under ESM’s management.
