Shri Varshneya College-S V College Aligarh was established with the dawn of the independence on the August 15, 1947 as Barahseni College. In 1965 the college name was changed to SHRI VARSHNEYA COLLEGE by the UP Govt. The college has Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, Fine Arts faculties. It has IGNOU Study Centre also apart from BBA, BCA, PGDBM, and PGDCM courses. Shri Varshneya College popularly known as S.V. College is fully financed by the UP Govt. and registered under 2f and 12bwith the UGC and enjoys a status of Old Renowned College and regularly receives UGC grant for its development The Shri Varshneya College-S V College is located on both sides of flyover on GT Road, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. College is open to all sections of society irrespective of Caste, Creed, Colour & Sex. Educational facilities in five faculties, viz-Arts, Science, Commerce, Law & Education through 23 departments (16 Postgraduate & 7 undergraduate) are available under these faculties.
The Shri Varshneya College-S V College has well equipped laboratories in faculty of Science and Arts with latest equipments, Facility of a large central Library in addition to departmental Libraries and Departmental Libraries having a large collection of books and journals including many rare ones. The libraries subscribe to a number of newspapers, magazines and academic journals. Computer Centre with several computer terminals, a gymnasium and a well constructed Sports Ground of international standard are some of the special features of the College. Air conditioned conference room is a well equipped. Seminar Hall catering to the academic needs of the College. The Extra-Curricular activities of the students are also well looked after.
The Shri Varshneya College-S V College aims at providing all possible facilities to the students which are essential for their healthy academic growth. The high standards of games and sports have produced several sportsmen of National and International level. There are some units of National Service Scheme (N. S. S.) working effectively and efficiently in the college. The College has army and naval wings of National cadet corps (N.C.C.). Apart from this the college also publishes technical reports of various National and International seminars, researches and other academic projects and collections of research papers.
