Polytechnic for Women, one of the most centers for art, design and media education in India. We are proud of a tradition of vocational that dates from the foundation of the Polytechnic in 1979. Polytechnic for Woman is run by the E.S.P.V., Which also runs I.P.W., One of the premier institutes in the country today (approved by the B.T.E., Government of Delhi and affiliated to the AICTE, Government of India).
The Educational Society of Professionals and Vocationals was founded by like minded educationists, philanthropists and public spirited persons, dedicated to task of bringing about socio-economic transformations in keeping with the National Priorities. It was registered as a 'Charitable Institution' under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The objective of the society and Polytechnic for Women has been to provide skilled manpower to support the vast development programmes, being implemented in the country. In turn it enjoined on the Society to establish, promote and propagate vocational and technical education programmes to provide the right kind of professional and skilled personnel needed. The first venture of the society was to establish 'New Delhi College of Commerce' for training Cost and Works Accountants, duly approved by the National Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India, at N-14, South Extension, Part-I, New Delhi, India. This Institution was set up in the year 1973 and by now has turned out thousands of students many of whom are in controlling and Executive positions indicating the cherished hopes of the planners.
Polytechnic for Women is Fully Equipped with the Latest Type of Equipment, Machinery, Gadgets and Innovations. It Has A Developed And Matured Faculty, Professionally Qualified And Well Known In Their Field Of Specializations. The Coaching Is Imparted To Compact Groups Of Students Liberally Utilizing The Totally Developed Educational Technological Resources. Polytechnic for Women Institute Awards It’s Own Diplomas & Certificates For Courses Which Are Not Affiliated To Other Institutions Like B.T.E., A.I.C.T.E., U.G.C.,Etc. The Library is Equipped with About 2000 Books Related to all fields of courses available in the Polytechnic for Women. Many important magazines and journals related to the various courses are also available. The annual membership fee for the library is Rs. 500 to Rs.1000, depending on the course. A compulsory Deposit of Rs. 1000 is to be paid along with the membership fees.
Polytechnic for Women Maintains a Regular Liasion / Contact through Conferences, Get-togethers and Other Professional Media, With Export Houses, Business Houses, Industries, Embassies, Banks, Airlines, Hotels and Tourist Organisations to Help the Successful Students Secure Employment. In Cases Where the Students Want to set up a Free Lance Practice Polytechnic for Women helps them to Do So. For This Purpose a Regular Employment Register Is Maintained and the Students Are Required to Keep In Touch With the Employment Incharge.On-campus Interviews Are Also Conducted From Time To Time.
For students coming from outside Delhi or from neighboring countries of Asia and Europe, a fully equipped hostel in the charge of a resident lady warden, who is experienced in Hostel management and sympathetic towards hostellers, is maintained. The hostel enjoys a corporate community life, providing as it were a unit, a family looked through a magnifying glass. The spirit of comradeship is encouraged and occasional outings, picnics are arranged so that the hostel is "A home away from home". Necessary furniture consisting of a bed, chair and a study table would be provided besides an almirah. The expenses including rent, mess, common room etc. would aggregate approximately to Rs. 3400/- per month, payable in four instalments for the whole year, or eleven months as the case may be. Polytechnic for Women has three hostels, two at South Extension and one at 171-A, Khirkee Road, Malviya Nagar, and New Delhi-110017. Due decorum, decency and all norms of discipline are observed. All complaints of inconvenience are brought to the notice of the warden whose attitude will be appreciated by the students as sympathetic and considerate. Every student of Polytechnic for Women has to observe the standing rules of the hostel which are displayed on the hostel notice board. Indoor games facilities will be available for the Hostelers in the Hostel campus, where they can indulge in games like Table Tennis, Carrom, etc.
