The Establishment of Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat was a landmark in the growth and development of the Sarvajanik Education Society. This new institution of higher education in commerce, started by the society in 1946, owed its existence to the generous donation of Rs. 1,00225/- by Sir Kikabhai Premchand ,then president of the society. In 1945 Sir Kikabhai Premchand, who had been greatly impressed by the educational activities of the society. Made over to it 100 ordinary shares of the Fort Gloster Jute Manufacturing Co.Ltd. And 50 shares of the Hukamchand Jute Mills Ltd. Of the market value of Rs. 1,00225/- on the conditions that the society should start a Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat within two years i.e. by June 1947, that the amount of the donation should be utilized towards the construction of a building for the commerce college and that a minimum amount of Rs. 3,00,000/- should be collected by the society for starting and maintaining the college.
The Managing Committee of the Society accepted the donation with thanks to its President and began to make arrangement for starting Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat. An application was sent to the University of Bombay in August 1945. The Local Inquiry Committee appointed by the University for the purpose visited Surat on 23rd December 1945 and the Senate of the University recommended to the Government in March 1946 the affiliation of the commerce college for teaching of courses leading up to intermediate commerce class for two years in the first instance. Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat provides Bachelor Degree and Master Degree program to the students.

Besides the institution have well furnished laboratories for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Physics & Chemistry.
Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat has two seminar halls with all modern facilities in the campus. The juries and seminars are conducted in seminar hall with ultra modern LCD projector, computer, and audio and video facilities. The college building seminar hall has a capacity of 100, The IT building hall has a capacity of 250 and all the juries and seminars are conducted in the seminar hall. The hall is equipped with ultra modern LCD projector, computer workstation, audio-visual facilities and wireless Internet facilities.
Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat offers hostel facilities to the students in the hostel located in the campus that is meant for all students of college. Psychology Lab has all the tests and the corresponding equipments for conducting psychology experiments based on B. Ed. syllabus. College also provides expert guidance and counseling services to needy students. College has several classrooms which are well equipped with the latest teaching aids and equipments.
Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat provides gym facility. In English the meaning of physical education is pertained in the world gym. Both physical and mental health plays an important role for the well-being of an individual. In tune with the objective of all-round development of students, the campus is equipped with an in-house gymnasium. It contains world-class equipments like treadmills and strength machines for exercise and work out. In short, the gym provides an ideal atmosphere for the students to de-stress themselves.
As per the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, Sir K P College of Commerce - Surat will strictly follow the "UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace in Higher Educational Institutions 2009". Ragging of any student is a criminal offence and stringent measures have to be taken for curbing the menace of ragging in educational institutions. RIST administration is very conscious of its responsibilities in this regard and students and parents need not harbor undue apprehensions and should report any incident immediately to the college authorities and stringent punishment will be meted out to the culprit(s).
