Amina Wadud is an Islamic scholar of United States. She was born on September 25, 1952 in Bethesda, Maryland. Amina Wadud was born Christian and reverted to Islam in 1972. She is a controversial Islamic scholar and has led Friday prayers in America in 2005. Amina Wadud has also addressed many mixed gender congregations. Amina Wadud pursued her studies from University of Michigan, American University in Cairo, Cairo University, Al-Azhar University and holds Doctorate degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies.
