Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib was founded in 1957 to commemorate the supreme martyrdom of Mata Gujri, the revered mother of the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh. Facing the historic shrine of Fatehgarh Sahib, a living testimony of the unique sacrifice of the two younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh who were bricked alive by the tyrannical Mughal rulers, the college was built brick by brick by its founders.
Bibi Gurbachan kaur Mann, the founder of Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib was a lady of great determination and dedication & vision whose sole ambition was to promote higher education in the area. Her visionary insight has proved prophetic, as this college has made gigantic strides in various spheres since its inception. Starting on a humble scale, the college now boasts of a sprawling campus spread over more than 25 acres.
Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib was taken over by the S.G.P.C.,Amritsar in 1964. The College is under the overall management of S.G.P.C. The college made tremendous achievements and rapid progress under the able guidance, dynamic leadership, far-sighted vision and unstinted dedication of Panth Ratan, Late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra who remained the president of the college managing committee as well as the SGPC for a record period of more than 25 years. Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib is situated at the historical town of Fatehgarh Sahib, a district head quarter about 4 kilometers from Sirhind Railway Station. The mission of Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib is to provide to the rural youth educational opportunities that emphasize skills & knowledge that will allow the student to adjust through a lifetime of social and technological change. Mata Gujri College - Fatehgarh Sahib has a sprawling and serene campus spread over 25 acres. A fully air-conditioned Conference Hall is situated in Computer and Management Block with a seating capacity of 200 persons. The college has a spacious Seminar Hall in the Commerce block with seating capacity of 300 person. The college has five well equipped computer labs. having 400 computers connected with 2 MBPS OFC. A computer Research Centre has been established for software development with 65 Dell Core 2 duo & 70 P-IV IBM computers with 3 Servers. The college is in the process of setting up an auditorium with the capacity of 1000 persons.
