Setting up the Mudhoji College – Phaltan was not a very easy task. Facing opposition from skeptics Prof. Shivajirao Bhosale and Shreemant Shivajiraje,beban this inevitable task of starting a College with just 50 students of the Arts and Commerce Faculties at the intermediate level. The Late Shreemant Malojiraje graciously consented to the use of the Manmohan Palace for holding Classes in the initial period. As this small sapling began growing, the Palace premises were proving to be insufficient.
Besides,
Mudhoji College – Phaltan also needed a playground and gymkhana for the growing number of Students. In 1958 the College shifted to its present campus on the banks of the Banganga River, near the Harinarayan Tekdi, to the west of the Phaltan city. The foundation stone was laid by the then Chief Minister of Mumbai; Yeshwantrao Chavan.
Mudhoji College – Phaltan building initially had {Ground + One} structure. Today the College which began with a mere 50 Students has grown into a College of about 5000 Students.
Mudhoji College – Phaltan is established by the Phaltan Education Society in the Year 1957. Mudhoji College has two wings, Junior as well as Senior and also post graduate courses in the subjects of Marathi, Hindi, and English. Mudhoji College – Phaltan has glorious tradition of seven Principals, such as Mr. D.H. Oak (1957-1963), Mr. Shivajirao Bhosale(1963-1988), Mr. V.B. Joshi-acting(for six months), Mr. V.M.Deshmukh(1888-1999), Dr.S.B.Salunkhe (1999-2005), Mr.A.K.Shaikh-acting (for two months), Dr.R.M.Shah(2005-2010). Among the most celebrated was Late Prin. Shivajirao Bhosale, well-known orator in India and abroad and who also worked in the capacity of the Vice-Chancellor of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (M.S.).Now Dr. S.D. Gholap is the eighth Principal of the College( 01-05-2010 to onwards).
In reality Shreemant Malojiraje at
Mudhoji College – Phaltan was the care taker of the rural people who wanted to make them educate.He realised that education was the best means to bring about an all-round development of the people. With this realization he founded the Phaltan Education Society in the Year 1957.The Society took under its fold an already existing institution, the Mudhoji School and expanded it. Shreemant Shivajiraje Naik Nimbalkar the then Secretary of P.E.Society and the son of Shreemant Malojiraje directed the Phaltan Education Society to expand its operation and set up
Mudhoji College – Phaltan in 1957 that provide higher education in the Rural area in which children of common farmers and Agricultural labourers can take the higher education.
Ever since, this College has provided an opportunity to the poor and needy students of Phaltan, Khandala, Maan and Malshiras Talukas to obtain higher education. Presently the P.E. Society runs as many as 42 different institutions, which include Primary Schools, High Schools, Junior Colleges, Agricultural Schools, an English Medium School, Senior Colleges, an I.T. Centre and Minimum Skills Vocational Centers. Society has the Hostels for the poor and backward sections and the Press.

Mudhoji College – Phaltan is to bring education to the door- steps of the rural people. To bring about an all-round development of the students and make them fit for various job opportunities. To encourage them to continue their educational pursuit up to the Post-Graduate level and beyond. To avoided making Education a Commercial activity and to provide quality Education to the rural students at an affordable rate. To maintain the sanctity of Education in this era of Commercialization. To promote Girls particularly from rural area to higher Education. To inculcate in Students the sense of freedom, equality and fraternity which are the three fundamental principles of the Indian constitution to strengthen the Country. To provide education to face the challenges caused by Globalization. Some necessary additions were made to enhance infrastructure facilities.
In the academic year 2009-10 Three new computers with internet connections were provided to Chemistry, Geography and Botany departments. One LCD, newly purchased was given to Physics. The Dept. of Zoology was given a new O.H.P. All these facilities will be used as the teaching aids. Mudhoji College – Phaltan has also purchased a new water cooler with filtered water for students. 3 aqua guard water filters are also purchased. They are installed in the staff room and office. The Gymkhana has purchased sports material worth Rs. 2,06,941.00.

A library well stocked with all the necessary volumes is available at the student's disposal. It is the synthesis of theories with working knowledge, together avenues to exploit all the available resources; we can mould our students into thorough professionals, who would become the leaders of their profession.
