Mulki Ramakrishna Hari Punja, an eminent industrialist, who conceived the idea of starting a technical training institute, with other prominent personalities of Mulki under the Mulki Education Society.
Mulki Ramakrishna Punja Industrial Training Institute - Udupi, which was started in view of providing jobs/self-employment oriented technical education to rural students, grew under the leadership of Mr. UV Shenoy, Retd. Engineer, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd., Madras as its Principal. In 1991, the institution was handed over to the Nitte Education Trust.
