NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi was established in 1986. The college is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. It is accredited by the National Board for Accreditation and is certified to the ISO 9001-2000 standards for quality education by KEMA, Netherlands. The institution has been granted Academic Autonomy under the Visvesvaraya Technological University from 2007-08. NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi provides Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and Doctoral program to the students.
NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi is located at Nitte, Karkala Taluk, Karnataka. The central library of NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi has over 52,000 volumes and subscribes to over 250 general and technical journals (both Indian & foreign). The library offers digitized services with CD-ROM stations. The library is equipped with digital library facilities with a subscription to large number of e-journals through INDSET and DELNET and offers online services. Students have access to the e-resources of the library anywhere on the campus over the campus wide network facility.
NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi has well equipped laboratories with over 1000 IBM personal computers connected via Fiber Optic backbone on a campus wide LAN. Almost all relevant software packages required for UG and PG students are made available on this LAN. The computer centre also has 15 Sun Spark machines and 4 Apple MAC machines which are used for advanced programming applications. In addition to this, the centre has the Alter and Xilinx synthesis software as well as necessary database with the utility software to conduct experiments on Bio Informatics.
All the departments in NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi campus including the hostels are connected through high speed wireless connectivity. Course materials and student information are available online. A 16 Mbps leased line Internet connectivity from BSNL caters to the needs of the students. The computer lab is open from 8 am to 12 midnight. Students involved in e-commerce and web based projects are provided with facilities and support by the Institute.
With Primary Prevention being the goal, constant efforts to create a healthy atmosphere on NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi campus to maximize student development, is in place. Problems are identified, through the orientation programme for freshers and the Project Teacher Guardian, and dealt with professionally giving highest priority to confidentiality. The Dept. of Counseling carries out a variety of activities to cater to genuine student needs from that of adjustment to development and growth; from career planning and training to higher education and placement. Students are also given training in leadership, public speaking, effective communication and facing interviews.
NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi campus has an indoor stadium of 14,000 sq.ft wherein games such as basketball, badminton and table tennis can be played and enjoyed. Students can make use of the multi-purpose gym which also has a weight lifting workshop. The playground is used for sports like hockey, football and cricket. Athletes have a well laid out 200 mt track. NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi campus also includes a floodlit outdoor basketball court. The Physical Education Department is equipped with excellent infrastructure and boasts of volleyball, ball-badminton, tennis and Kho-Kho courts.
NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi has well-equipped workshops and machine facilities. The Mechanical Engineering Department has a Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) laboratory. Though industrial training is not necessary, according to the VTU curriculum, an NMAM Institute of Technology - NMAMIT Udupi is encouraged to have as much exposure as is possible to an industry and is assisted to undergo "vocational" training in the 3rd and 4th year of study. The Institute’s interaction with more than 120 industries, both governmental and private, provides the students with opportunities and exposure to the latest facilities and real work environment.
