NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta is one of the three polytechnic in Kerala, started in 1958 in private sector under the Second Five Year Plan. The foundation stone of the building laid by Bharatha Kesari, Padmabhushan, Mannathu Padmanabhan, a man who had dedicated his whole life for the development of socially and economically backward people, on 10.02.1958.
NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta is the first technical institution started by the Nair Service Society, an organization registered under the Non-trading Companies Act, dedicated to serve the people with missionary spirit, for over eighty years. NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta is situated at Mannam Nagar, Pandalam Thekkekara Panchayat, and 7.5 KM south east of Pandalam in Pathanamthitta District. The site is a hill surrounded by paddy fields with a rural charm of its own.
NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta is an aided private institution, run under the financial assistance of Central & State Governments. It conducts at present Three Year Diploma Courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication and Computer Engineering, leading to the award of diploma by The State Board of Technical Education, Kerala State. The Students of this Institution are maintaining outstanding result for the last so many years. College provides Diploma program to the college students.

A student can take two books at a time and should be returned within ten days. If fails he or she has to pay Rs 1 per day for each book Students can make use of reference section at any time. The service hours of NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta library are from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. There are various journals and publications. About 40 periodicals are available for reference.
Each student will be given a library card. Spoiling or damaging of library books is punishable by heavy fines. If a book is lost the borrower shall replace it or he or she will pay the compensation as fixed by the principal. The transfer or sub lending of book is not allowed. For S C / S T students there is a book bank facility. About 16000 books and collection of CDs regarding technical areas are available in the library.
All outgoing students of NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta are members of the ALUMNI. The alumna unit of NSS PT was formed in 1993.The aim of this is to maintain contact among its members. To achieve these alumnae organizes family get together of all its members once in a year. It also conducts quiz competition, cultural competition for its members. It promotes carrier guidance and placement to its members.
NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta student’s union function as an academic body. The union shall be subjected to the rules and regulations in the college as well as those notified by the principal from time to time. It shall not engage itself in any manner in any political activity. All the students of the college are the members of union and have the right to vote and contest at the elections of the college union. The principal shall be patron of the college union.
A men’s hostel with a capacity to accommodate 100 students is situated in NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta campus. Staff members are appointed as resident tutors and deputy warden .The Principal and staff members make frequent visit and meetings with the inmates of hostel to keep up the discipline and smooth running of hostel. A spacious and clean canteen facility is available in the campus. Students can avail food at reasonable rate. The administration of canteen is by a committee, which includes staff and students representatives.
There is a co-operative society in NSS Polytechnic College - Pathanamthitta for the benefit of students. At the time of admission, all students should take share worth Rs, 10/- .The administration of co-operative society is by a committee, elected from staff and nominated from students. Nodal center for Entrepreneurship and management development is functioning in NSS PT from 1994 onwards, with the assistance of ministry Human Resource and Development.
