Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari is and offspring of Noorul Islam Educational Trust. Noorul Islam Trust is reputed for its commitment to the cause of higher education. Janab.Dr.A.P.Majeed Khan, the well known Philanthropist, is the Founder Chairman of the Trust. The Trust has to its credit certain popular technical and Educational Institutions, namely, the well-known, Noorul Islam University at Kumaracoil, Noorul Islam Polytechnic College at Punkarai, Noorul Islam Community College at Kumaracoil, Noorul Islam Multispeciality Hospital (NIMS) at Neyyantinkara and Noorul Islam Dental College.
Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari started in 2001 by Noorul Islam Educational Trust, is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. With a meagre strength of just 75 students, offering three courses, Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Applications, the college progressed leaps and bounds by adding new courses and infra facilities. To-day in the year 2010, Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari has effective student strength of about one thousand one hundred and offers 13 U.G. Courses, 8 P.G. Courses, 5 M Phil Courses and 1 Ph D Programme . There are 77 members of the Teaching Staff and 39 members of the Administrative Staff. Among the Teaching Staff, there are 7 Ph D holders and 55 M Phil degree holders.

Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari is located at Kumaracoil, Thuckalay, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The NICAS Library of College started functioning on 8th July 2002 in the new Campus. The primary aim of the library is to stimulate and promote among the students reading habits, thereby to enrich their knowledge that in turn would ensure their self-development and self-confidence. Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari Library has a good collection of 7000 latest and newly published books including 600 prestigious reference books in various disciplines, The total value of the books Rs 1522387/-. For this academic year 2008-2009, added 1500 books, worth RS.270395/- and subscribe 35 Periodicals including 15 Journals, that’s worth Rs.28000/- Exclusively this year 2008-2009, including both National and International in the area of Life Science, Computer Science Humanities, Visual Communication, Socio Economics, Literature competitive and General Studies. The members of NICAS Library refer and use 800 books average in a month and a good number of periodicals. We provide all leading National and Regional Dailies.
Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari has a single unit of the National Service Scheme which started its functioning from the Academic year 2003-2004. Enrolments of students from the Degree classes are done on voluntary basis. Every year 10 days of special Camp activities are conducted focusing on a social theme. The NSS aims at providing opportunities to the students to serve the society so as to make the members develop into better citizens. The regular activities of the NSS include Orientation Programmes as well as fieldwork. The Orientation programmers are spread over four Semesters covering the topics like National Integration, Rural Development, Planting trees, Lab-to-land technology, theatre arts, evils of dowry system, awareness on rain water harvesting, etc.
The Youth Red Cross vigorously acts in Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari to encourage the students in voluntary service and to produce a human society. Each member of this organization are involved in human activities like Blood Donation, Eye Donation, Helping Others, Imparting General Knowledge, Creating Gardens, Creating Health Awareness, Creating Awareness of National Integrity and stand to produce a prosperous India. Every Academic year, the social welfare programmes enunciated by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University are conducted in consultation with the Principal of the college and this brings pride to the college.
Red Ribbon Club was started in the year 2006 with 100 active volunteers. Red Ribbon Club of Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari is approved by the government of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society. Frequent social awareness programmes, medical camps, personality development programmes, signature camps and seminars are conducted to make the awareness among the students and the public about AIDS and other social issues. Consumer club is inaugurated in the year 2007-2008. The idea is to make the students aware of the very dynamic consumer scene in India. 150 students from all the departments of this college are the members. The club organizes Seminars and Guest Lecturers. The members participate in various competitions and win prizes.
The Eco Club in Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari has been started to maintain the campus in a clean way without garbage’s and other unclean items. It is also started with a purpose to plant useful plants and other medicinal plants. It functions under the guidance of the Principal, who is good in maintaining Eco concerns inside Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari. The NICAS-ALUMNI Association strength crossed the landmark of 2000 in the previous academic year. All the Alumni members who have completed their graduation in our college have completed or are doing Post Graduate courses in prestigious institutions or have been placed in reputed Software, Hardware, BPO, Banking and other industries.
The Parent Teacher Association of the college was functioning in Noorul Islam College of Arts and Science - NICAS Kanyakumari since its inception, however; it was formally inaugurated in the year July, 2008. The Principal and staff members of the college hold regular meetings with the parents regarding the issues of their wards. The primary aim of the association is to have a frequent interaction with the parents about their grievances and prospects of their wards and also to ensure the smooth functioning and development of the college. An endowment was created from Parent Teacher Association to honour the best outgoing Post Graduate student of the college.
