North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati is a Post-Graduate College established in the year 1992 by the NERIM Educational Society, registered under Societies Registration Act XXI/1860. Keeping in view the North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati performance and in pursuance to the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, Govt. of Assam has granted concurrence to the recognition and affiliation of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati .
Dibrugarh University authority vides its order No. DU/Rg/EC/NERIM/98/1256 dt. 29-12-98 granted its affiliation to North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati and recognised it as an Institute of Management and Computer Science for conducting Post Graduate Programmes in Management and Computer Applications leading to Degrees of Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) respectively, which were also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in the year 1999 and 2001 respectively.
The Govt of Assam and the Department of Technical Education initially extended its active support for the establishment of this institute with a view to promote Management and Computer Science Education in the North Eastern Region of the Country. The prime objective of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati is to design and formulate need based academic and professional programmes independently as well as in collaboration with other leading management Institutes and Universities.
North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati has eight well furnished hostels (four girls hostel and four boys hostel) nearby its campus. North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati is currently operating from two premises namely Padma Nath Sarmah Bhawan at Beltola and Parukutty Bhawan at Nabin Nagar. The North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati has an arrangement with State Bank of India for educational loan.
At present, North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati has 3 well equipped Computer Labs having 185 number of computers with 2 servers, which includes latest machines and offers state of the art computing facilities to the students with 1:1 ratio for student and computer. All machines are connected by (LAN) with 24 hours Internet facility. The Laboratories provide ample time and opportunity to the students for gaining practical efficiency in this field.
The North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati has a library enriched with around 10000 titles on Management, Computer Science, Tourism and allied subjects of Indian and Foreign publications. The Library subscribes around 35 numbers of journals including International Journals and Periodicals viz. Harvard Business Review, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Vikalpa, Indian Journal of Industrial Relations, Finance India etc. to name a few.
The North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati is actively involved in nurturing its human resources by deputing its faculty members in the various faculty development programmes, workshops, seminar etc. organised and conducted by premier management and technical institutes like IIMs and IITs. Faculty development programmes are also organised in the institute and conducted by eminent resource persons from varied fields of excellence. North Eastern Regional Institute of Management – NERIM Guwahati is the only Nodal Center of All India Management Association (AIMA) and Partner institute of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the entire North Eastern Region.
