The Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat came into existence on 7th January, 1959 at H.R.H.P.O.W.

Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat started functioning with admission of its first batch of students in Civil Engineering, on 10th October, 1960. With a glorious journey, the
Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat currently offers AICTE recongnised B.E. courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science & Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering. While the College has been offering three-year post graduate course leading to Master of Computer Application (M.C.A.) since 1987, AICTE approval has been received for offering M.E. course in Mechanical Engineering.
The Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat library has about 19 thousands of books on various subjects. Books are arranged in subject-wise. Books are issued to the students in two ways: by card and by book bank. In book bank issuing of books are done by group-wise. Each group consists of two or three students. Besides engineering it has books on different streams also. Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat has a Medical centre. Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat provides all the basic medical facilities to the students of the college. Medicines are supplied by the Department of Health, Government of Assam. Medicines are provided to the students free of cost. Besides these, Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat has all the necessary facilities like First Aids, Sick beds,. etc.
There are 9 hostels, out of which 8 are boys hostel and 1 girls hostel. Each hostel has got a superintendent and 2 or 3 monitors. Each hostel has engaged lots of staff for its fuctioning. Each hostel provides good water supply, fooding, toilets and other necessary facilities. Besides, there are library, reading room, gym, entertainment rooms, etc. in most of the hostels. Inter-hostel competitions are in various fields during the of every session. The Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat owns two buses. They run daily from the college to the main town (i.e.Baruah chariali) along the way touching all the major as well as minor stoppages.
The Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat has a separate Training and Placement Cell, under Training and Placement Officer. The cell also comprises of a group of students of final year. The cell also acts as a coordinator for the Industrial Training and Placement of pre-final and final year students. Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat arranges Industrial Training programme of about 30 days for the pre-final year students immediately after the completion of their 6th semester examination. The Training and Placement Cell also guides and helps the final year students in securing jobs commensurate with their knowledge and achievements, by organizing campus interviews and exploring various avenues for their placement. The cell extends all possible help and provides all available infrastructure facilities to the organisations and their respective officials conducting campus interviews in the Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat campus.
The Office deals with communicating & inviting various companies for campus interview to the college. Jorhat Engineering College - Jorhat also handles all the matters related to Industrial Training. Control Panel is that part of the placement cell where the process related to campus interview Viz, interview, Group discussion etc are being carried out. All facilities like Control Room, Panel Rooms (A/C), Seminar Hall, and Examination Hall etc are there to hold the interview(s).
