The Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College - ADP College Nagaon is named after the illustrious son of Asom, Anandaram Dhekial Phookan..The Asam Sahitya Sabha Session held at Nagaon in 1959, through a resolution, urged the people to establish a college in the name of that hallowed personality to bring to light his wishes of spreading knowledge. Thus the Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College - ADP College Nagaon was established at first as Night College, and later on transformed to Day College with Night Section as a shift. During the tenure of late Abdul Hye as Principal, the Science stream was opened in 1978 to meet the aspiration of the students of the district.

The Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College - ADP College Nagaon was initially started in 1959 as a Night college in Arts stream with the initial objective of offering scope to the earner-learners who were unable to attend day time institutions in spite of their strong desire to pursue higher education.

TheAnandaram Dhekial Phookan College - ADP College Nagaon has one newly built Girls hostel where 33 girls can stay in a comfortable and hygienic and homely environment. In the hostel pure drinking water (through aqua guard) is provided. The hostel is well secured by college security personnel and maintained with necessary facilities like electricity, running water and common rooms with TV, sports items etc. All the rooms are well furnished. There is a mess facility for arranging the meals for the hostellers. There are watchmen for security and sweepers to clean the premises. The students also have access to games like table tennis and badminton.

It is a place of attraction for the students. The library has been aiming to supplement the knowledge of the students, which they acquire from their teachers.
