Seth Banarasi Dass College of Education-SBDCE is run by society named as Seth Banarasi Dass Charitable Society. The society was established in the year 1998 & was registered Under Societies Registration act (XX1 of 1860) and as amended by Punjab Amendment act 1957. Keeping in mind the Vision and the Mission of Seth Banarsi Dass College of Education, our 300 volunteers of NSS are initiated into service before self and committed to working towards the development of the community at large. Seth Banarsi Dass College of Education has a tradition and history of Social Service. As teacher who is socially aware and initiated in the social service of the community will be more sensitive to the changing trends in society. Hence, it is of utmost importance that the spirit of Social Service be inculcated and developed in the prospective teachers who will be teaching and shaping the future generations.
Seth Banarasi Dass College of Education-SBDCE offers a unique professional educational program, a values-oriented experience, and extensive resources. Focus, individual attention, values, and opportunity are at the core of both the bachelor programs because the college believes these are the elements that allow the prospective teachers to learn and grow in the most balanced and effective way possible. It offers Bachelor of Education and Diploma In Education. The institute is situated in the heart of the city about 1.5 kms from Pipli and 500 mtrs from Main Bus Stand, Kurukshetra.
The study area consists of classrooms, a seminar room and a spacious multipurpose hall with a seating capacity of 500 persons. The Library is an exclusive center for exhaustive information on education, methodologies of teaching and research journals. The library subscribes to 21 journals and 15 magazines. Copies of reports and projects undertaken by the students are also made available to all. Seth Banarasi Dass College of Education-SBDCE has a state of the art networking of 20 computers connected to a Pentium server. The computer room provides the following services: Hi – speed Internet access and e-mail facility for everyone to gather latest information throughout the day. The prospective teachers are trained to use multimedia presentations and other applications for teaching. A well equipped laboratory with all the necessary equipment to carry out the experiments to develop scientific spirit in prospective teachers.
The Hostel at Seth Banarasi Dass College of Education-SBDCE provides such an ambience that the students feel they are at home. The rooms are well furnished, airy, with attached bathrooms, proper house keeping facilities, telephone facilities and are equipped with a number of other amenities as well. The audiovisual room houses all the aids, which are used in the teaching learning process. A number of Overhead projectors, Slide projector, screens, television, Videocassette recorder, Video camera, cassette player, audio and videocassettes are available for the students and faculty to use in their classroom teaching. Games and sports are compulsory for all the students. Provision has, therefore been made for games and sports. The students can enjoy Basket ball, Volleyball, Cricket, Football, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Skating, Ludo, Carom Board. In today’s competitive world, full of stresses and trauma, there emerges a strong need to look for able and professional guidance to resolve various problems of life. The cell also has a rich collection of psychological tests and equipment.
Seth Banarasi Dass College of Education-SBDCE starts campus placements by inviting authorities of the reputed schools of the region for the selection of competent staff from the students getting B.Ed Education in the institution. To the respective schools, the details of the present and past students opting for placement are sent as per their requirement for teaching various subjects. In addition to placements of the students in reputed schools, the college organizes programs, mock interviews, group discussions, case studies, etc. we have plans to organize the following programs in future like : Personality development Programs, Interpersonal & Communication skills, Career Counselling, Time Management, Personal and Professional growth of teachers.
