Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim established in 1966 and located at Altinho, Panjim and established by Dempo Charities Trust. The total enrollment in these institutions is around 3,500. The first College strives to provide state of art infrastructure in basic Sciences and a temperament to art and culture in all these institutions. As a result the students in these institutions have performed very well in public examinations and have frequently appeared in the merit lists of educational Boards and Universities.
These students have also excelled in extracurricular activities. In sports and athletics, many have performed well not only in inter-collegiate events but even in inter-university and national level competitions. The N.S.S. units have rendered commendable services to the community. The N.C.C. wing is doing well. The Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim has two well-equipped computer laboratories separately for B. Com. and M. Com. Programmes, which the students can use for their research. The students also have access to educational CD's for interactive learning of the world around them.
Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim has the distinction of forming the first College Movie Club in Goa. It was inaugurated on 24 July 2004. The aim of the club is to acquaint students with classic films of all kinds. The stress will be on screening films to which students do not usually have access. The Club will also try to make its members familiar with the finer aspects of film making and will explore the possibility of organizing seminars and workshops on screenplay writing, cinematography etc. The club works in collaboration with the Moving Images Film Club which is situated at Goa International Centre, Dona Paula. Acting, miming, mimicry and such other talents of the students are given exposure.
To set the artist free in every Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim student is undertaken by this club. Professionals in the Art and photography field come for help and guidance. The College has the N.C.C. (Infantry Wing) unit under the guidance of qualified professor. Students are encouraged to join the unit for developing their personality. All necessary facilities in this connection are provided to the N.C.C. Cadets. This unit is open to all students who enroll in this college.
The objective of the N.S.S. is to develop national consciousness and social responsibility in Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim students. The unit undertakes adult literacy classes, natural labour camps, care of the sick in the hospitals and such other service to the nation. A member of the teaching staff appointed by the Principal will be in charge of all activities undertaken under this organization. Information technology club exposes the students to computers, Internet, E-mail etc. thus giving an appropriate opportunity to interact with the world at large. To inculcate in student a passion for books and interact with great minds and souls is undertaken by this club, besides organizing a number of competitions (such as story writing poetry etc.) during the first week of December.
The Yoga Club in the Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim is a new club started this academic year under the guidance of our Principal Shri S.L. Sardesai. At the outset, Prof. Sardesai taught some basic Yogasanas, theory of Yoga to the students. A special of Meditation was conducted for third year students. All three divisions of T.Y. Com benefited from this session. College offers different kind of bachelor courses leading to different streams.
The Career Guidance Cell of Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim is set up to provide students with guidance regarding higher studies job opportunities and self employment. This cell consisting of a professor and the librarian helps students with up to date information careers and courses, and also guides students on how to prepare for competitive examination and interviews. A Counselling Cell headed by a Senior Lecturer is set up to guide students on how to better their academic performance and to help them to resolve their problems they face. The aim of cell is to help students adjust to college life and prepare them psychologically for their careers after college.
Shrinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics – SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics Panjim Placement Cell co-ordinates and organizes on campus and off campus recruitment programmes for the final year students of the college. Several students have benefited from this activity. Originally in Goa and outside Goa have shown interest in campus recruitment and have also related several students over a period of three years. MNC's like Hewlett Packard & e-source selected and recruited students from the 2002-2003 batches.
