A Bishop's dream and a Maharaja's munificence culminated in the establishment of St Philomenas College – Mysore on October 9, 1946. His Excellency the Rt. Rev. Dr. Rene Feuga, the First Bishop of Mysore, vacated his mansion to make room for classes and the Wodeyars, the Mysore Royal family, donated 29 acres of land to the college. The College was declared open by His Highness Sri Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore- a rare honour and privilege for any institution. St Philomenas College – Mysore offers different kind of undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses.
St Philomenas College – Mysore is situated at Mysore Bangalore Road, Bannimantap, Mysore. The meticulously maintained campus is a haven for learning. Sunlit corridors and quiet nooks and shady tree-lined avenues create an ambience for study. The college campus is spread out over 33 acres, and has - spacious classrooms, - well-equipped laboratories and two museums - Botany and Zoology - to complement the learning process. There is also an auditorium with a seating capacity of 300, an Open-air Theatre, a spacious reading Room and a modern Conference Hall. A Prayer Hall with an adjacent Rose Garden provides a serene place for staff and students to spend time in meditation.

The modernized library has Reprography, Internet and Computer facilities with master server in the Computer Lab. Students can make use of the Internet and Computer facilities during their off hours and on holidays. St Philomenas College – Mysore also has extensive playgrounds where inter-collegiate Sports and Games are frequently held, a bank extension counter, a Safe Drinking Water facility and a well-appointed Ladies Room with all facilities.
The Men's Hostel on campus has accommodation for 240 students. One of the three Women's Hostels, Vidyanjali, takes care of the special needs of disadvantaged students and provides for Spoken English and Value Education Classes. St Philomenas College – Mysore buildings and infrastructure are put to optimum use by making them available for use by Governmental and Non-governmental agencies as and when required and Distance Education Programmes.
