St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad started in 1959, is a Catholic minority Institution founded by the Sisters of Charity for the holistic education for empowerment of women. The college is housed in an impressive campus spread over eight acres in the heart of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. From student strength of 15 in 1959, the college has grown into a prestigious institution with a student force of 2400 and a staff strength of 110 teaching and 80 non-teaching members offering undergraduate and select postgraduate courses.
St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad is situated at Uma Nagar, Begumpet Hyderabad (A.P.). Autonomy was conferred on the college by the UGC in 1988. Since then the college has proved to be a trendsetter in academic development with a commitment to a value system and qualitative self-improvement. The college was accredited with 5 stars by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in the year 1999 and reaccredited at the ‘A’ Level in the year 2006. The University Grants Commission declared the college as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ in the year 2004.
St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad offers an exciting range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs amply supported by a variety of diploma programs and certificate courses. Currently a choice and credit-based system is in place, allowing the students access to inter-disciplinary courses as well. Students can choose from a variety of courses and register to earn more credits by taking on additional courses.

Access to E-journals from J-Gate-Informatics is provided. It also subscribes to more than 100 Journals / Magazines. The library is kept open for 290 days in an academic year and works between 8:30 am to 5 pm.

It is equipped with the latest equipments with 7 cardio stations such as treadmills. Cross trainers and upright bikes. The Department of Sports at St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad offers a number of sports activities to help students become physically fit and develop leadership qualities and a spirit of sportsmanship. The college offers regular sports coaching in the mornings for students desirous of competing in Inter-Collegiate competitions. The college appoints coaches on a part time basis for regular coaching as well as for certificate courses in sports. Certtificate courses are offered in Basket ball, Base Ball, Soft ball, Hand ball, volley ball, Throw ball, Tenniquoit, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Shuttle Badminton, Yoga, Judo, Athletics, Cross-Country, Taekwondo, Karate, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Lawn Tennis.
The Student Service Centre is equipped with facilities for photocpoying, Project Binding, Lamination, Stationary etc. Common Room provides students with a place for discussion and relaxation. The college campus has adequate space for vehicles. Students and staff can park their vehicles in the bay allotted to them. St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad has a large auditorium which can seat a gathering of 1000 in an area of 20,000 sq ft. An impressive stage with its state of the art acoustics, attached green rooms and other accessories contribute to the success of all cultural and other events conducted here.
At St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad Internet facility is provided free of cost to staff and students. Each staff room is equipped with a desktop for Internet connectivity. A computer lab with 30 computer systems is separately maintained for providing Internet access to students. Broadband access is provided by BSNL. The college has a fully air-conditioned Board room for conducting important meetings and seminars. It is fitted with modern audio-visual equipment that facilitates interactive sessions. Over a hundred people can be seated comfortably in this room.
St Francis College for Women – Hyderabad has the unique distinction of being the recipient of 4 National awards by the Government in recognition of our commitment to community service. We foster the spirit of community service by involving students in extension activities organized by the NSS. There are three units of the NSS each headed by a program officer. The programme officers in collaboration with the NSS unit of Osmania University organize all activities. The NSS units adopt local slums and organize diverse developmental activities and general awareness programs to improve the quality of life of the slum dwellers.
