Unity Womens College - Malappuram was established in 1991 and is run by Muslim Educational and Cultural Association (MECA) – a registered society. A First Grade Aided College affiliated to the University of Calicut, it is the only multi-faculty (Arts, Science & Commerce) Women’s College in Malappuram District. It has also the unique distinction of being the only institution of this kind run by Muslim Community in Kerala.
Unity Womens College - Malappuram aims the upliftment of women in general and the educationally backward Muslim women in particular, through modern good quality education. The College has creditable academic as well as co-curricular accomplishments. The college has been accredited in 2005 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) at B+ level. It consists of President, Secretary and members. The principal is the president of the council. He shall have power to conduct council meetings. The secretary shall be elected from among the members of teaching staff. All Heads of its department to be the member of the council along with two other members which are elected/nominated from among teaching staff.
A Parent Teacher Association is actively functioning in Unity Womens College - Malappuram for promoting general welfare of the students and keeping good relationship between parents and teachers. The guardian of every student shall join the association and all teachers are its members. The PTA distributes proficiency prizes for the outstanding students every year.
