Rao Bahadur Senthikumara Nadar was appointed the Patron of Virudhnagar Hindu Nadars Senthikumara Nadar College – V H N S N College Virudhunagar. In 1948, the Hindu Nadar Mahamai Tharappu took over the administration of the college. The successive Managing Boards of this college consisted of solid and simple men who were successful business magnates in their respective enterprises. They nurtured the nascent institution. Under their benevolent patronage, the college registered a phenomenal development, blossoming into a Post-Graduate Institution in 1967. Today, after 63 years of its inception, VHNSN College has grown from strength to strength, scaling new heights and crossing many a milestone on the academic road.

There are two hostels located within the college premises for the use of the boys namely PSC hostel and M.S.P.S.S. Hostel. The college management has provided the hostels with basic amenities for the comfortable stay of the students. Each room is provided with tube lights, fans and cots. Each floor of the hostel has separate bathroom and toilet facilities. There is a separate reading room for each hostel where dailies, weeklies and monthlies are made available. A hygienic kitchen with modern facilities like gas cooking, boiler cooking, 24 hours mineral water supply is available in the hostel. For recreation of the hostel students, two play grounds are kept opened where the students play tennikoit and shuttle cock. Apart from this there are provisions for indoor games like carom and chess. A separate hall is maintained as T.V. hall where the students watch T.V. programs.

There are 3 hostels meant for girl students - one constructed recently with the financial assistance of ` 80 lakhs from UGC. 24 hours uninterrupted power supply is ensured with the help of genset. Provision for the indoor games and outdoor games are made within the hostel. For the recreation of the inmates an audio system and TV are made available. The objectives of the construction of the multi gym is to improve muscular power and strength, to reduce obesity, and to build body. There are 17 stations in the gym with the following equipments. With the UGC grant of Rs.40 lakhs and the magnanimous contribution of Rs.25 lakhs by the college management a splendid college swimming pool came into existence in the year 1998. Only a very few colleges have this facility across the country and VHNSN College, Virudhunagar has got in for the students. It comprises of two pools – a racing pool with 25 mts of length constructed at national standard and a learner pool to train the students and public on swimming. Coachers have been appointed to take care of the learners. Girls are given separate timings.
