Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati was established on 10th January 2007 (Approval No. Prot. 015 dated 10th January 2007). The proposal of Don Bosco Society, submitted to the Government of Assam on 8th November 2007, to set up a private University was examined by the Expert Committee of the government; and, as recommended by the Committee, the government, on 29th March 2008, issued the Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Salesians of Don Bosco to establish the University at Guwahati in Assam (Letter No. AHE.384/2007/49 dated 29th March 2008).
Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati is a project of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) executed by Don Bosco Society, Azara, Guwahati. Presently, Salesians are working in 132 countries catering to over nine million young people worldwide; Salesians have been recognized by Government of India as the single largest provider of technical education in India, second only to the Government. More than 100 Salesian technical schools and 25 colleges are established in India. Scores of non-formal training centers, agricultural training centers, relief and rehabilitation centers, literacy centers and shelters for street children in India are managed by the Congregation. Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati provides Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and Doctoral program to the students.

State of the art, tastefully furnished computer labs, with over 300 computers networked under Windows 2003 Server and Linux; computing centers with internet enabled computers to serve the day-to-day computing needs of the students; language lab equipped with student consoles and language lab software, digitized audio and video material to develop interactive language skills. Broadband access with static IP addresses takes care of internal browsing requirements.
Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Legal Microsoft software is available to the staff and students under MSDN Academic Alliance. We, at DBU, understand the importance of computers in educating our youth. Thus, we have ergonomically designed computer labs for our students. The best faculty and the latest software are added features. These labs, housed in eco-friendly rooms are also net-ready, keeping in view the need to familiarize students to the culture of the internet, besides their curriculum.
Sports and recreation, Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati believes, are the two pillars upon which are based a student’s development as a complete being. Sports and recreation, thus, will be given as much impetus and importance as academics. Sports followed in campus include cricket, football, volley-ball, besides indoor sports such as badminton and TT. Recreation facilities include a ready-to-use gymnasium besides provision for music and spiritual healing. Annual sports events will be held besides which the university will also participate in inter-college tournaments in various sports and events, including track and field.
Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati provides cafeterias facility. Keeping in mind the need for students to assimilate in places of common interest and discuss issues, besides familiarizing with each other and building friendships and lasting relationships, we have multiple cafeterias in the campus which serve tasty fast-food items beside the staple diet of coffee and tea. We understand that these places can become hives of activity and animate discussions, yet another example of DBU’s thoughtfulness and care.
The health of Don Bosco University - DBU Guwahati students is of paramount importance to us and there will be no presumption of dearth or negligence in these issues. In house health services will be provided; besides visits outside if the need arises. DBU takes full responsibility for the health of our students and their well being. Trusting the motto of ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’, we go out of our way to handle and solve any health related issues. 24 hr medical help will be provided to students if the need arises. A qualified nurse is on duty during college hours for first aid and emergency care.

Care is taken to ensure that students are placed in fields where they would excel, as per their abilities and potential. The Placement Cell is staffed with expert counselors to ensure the best possible placements for students.
