G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar started functioning in academic year 1996-1997 by offering two four-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree programmes namely Chemical Engineering and Information Technology. Currently institute is running with seven disciplines at graduate level and one at post graduate level. GCET was started by Charutar Vidya Mandal. CVM decided in 1995 to set up a private engineering college as per the norms of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the policy of the State Government.
On G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar campus, more than twenty thousand students pursue academic programmes in many different disciplines. Several gardens, tree-lined avenues, a huge playground in the heart of the township, and a rural environment enliven academic activities on G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar campus. Shri Gordhanbhai Hathibhai Patel, an eminent philanthropist of Gujarat, made a generous donation of Rs. Three Crores for the new college. In honor of this magnanimous gesture, the college has been named G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology, or GCET. G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar provides Bachelor Degree and Master Degree to the students.
G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar is located at Bakrol Road, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. The Central Library began its existence way back in 1996. Since then, it has grown in size and content along with G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar to take the present shape. All these years, it has been the lifeline for the academic activity of the institute. At present, it stands as one of the best libraries in terms of the number of books and journals, an undergraduate degree engineering college can have a modem library with a lot of automation. Central Library serves the academic needs of about 1879 UG students and nearly 114 faculty members and about 56 technical, administrative staff of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar. Besides its services are extended to a number of other organizations also. The Library resources stand at about 18,131 volumes of books, and back- volumes of periodicals, CD, audiocassettes, thesis and standards. The journal subscription goes beyond 100. While all journal subscriptions are available in the present form, some are available in CD ROM form also.

The Research and Development cell of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology - GCET Vallabh Vidyanagar is the wing of the institute which facilitates, channelizes, and regulates as per the institute rules all the academic and sponsored research projects in the institute. The institute conducts projects and seeks funding and partners for collaborative research projects among other academic institutions, universities, government, industries, and various research bodies in India and abroad.

Main aim of this workshop is to provide students basic knowledge in the field of PLC. The seminar will be conducted by Mr. Bhavesh R. Hindocha, the faculty of electrical department of GCET College who has good experience in this field.

Apart from all project related equipments, it houses the PCB making equipments like Photo DIP coater, Double sided O.V. exposer, PCB Shearing- Drilling-Etching machine, Proto Developer/Stripper, Proto-cure (oven), Dry film laminator, Thru-hole plating system, blower etc. Total Investment: Rs. 7,67,388/- In addition to 15 P4 PCs the lab is equipped with LSM controller, DSP kits, Lab view 8 with NI-Elvis boards, 250 GB USB hard disc and DVD writer and software’s like Multisim-Ultiboard ver. 10, Matlab, MASM, Keil, Quartus-II etc. Total Investment: Rs. 15,69,007/-
