Vithalbhai Patel and RPTP Science College - Vallabh Vidyanagar is started by Charutar Vidya Mandal. In 1945, Shri Bhaikaka and Shri Bhikhakaka registered a Public Charitable Trust : The Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and in the glorious tradition of Nalanda and Takshashila, they laid the foundation of a model township (on borrowed land, thanks to the generosity of the neighboring villages) which was inaugurated by India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. In 1947, an Arts and Science College was the first college to come up in the township. Teachers, their spouses , students, citizens, everybody voluntarily labored to bring this college up. So in 1947 with 600 students, it was inaugurated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Vithalbhai Patel and RPTP Science College - Vallabh Vidyanagar is spread over an area of 6412.45 square meters with spacious and well ventilated classrooms, fully Equipped Laboratories, Computer Center with internet facility, a separate Library Building with Reading Room and a Huge Central Hall with a capacity of 1500 students. The college also boasts of a beautiful garden in its campus. There is a separate Canteen in the college campus. The college is just a stone throw away from Mota Bazar and is in the close vicinity of Post-Office, Banks, ATMs, Bus Stop, Shops, Restaurants, Hostels, Play Ground and University Office. College has its own computerized library with 46,264 Books (worth Rs. 28 lacs approximately), 40 Periodicals, Magazines, Journals and Six newspapers. The library has a special reading room with a capacity of 100 students. The library gets an annual grant of Rs. 60,000/- and under the 10th plan it has got a grant of Rs. 1 lac. The students are given books from the UGC section related to their courses for the entire year. CVM has provided separate Hostel for both Boys and Girls in the close vicinity of the college. The Girls Hostel also has mess facilities and security.
The CVM has its own play ground "Shastri Maidan" very close to Vithalbhai Patel and RPTP Science College - Vallabh Vidyanagar. In the Shastri Maidan the students have the opportunity of playing Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Foot Ball, Cricket and Table Tennis. There is also a gymnasium for the benefit of interested students. A Health Center runs by the Sardar Patel University provides free basic medical facilities to students and staff. The health center also provides the services of medical experts on select days of the week. A small canteen in the college campus is a good facility for students and staff wishing to have a quick bite and sip coffee and tea.
Vithalbhai Patel and RPTP Science College - Vallabh Vidyanagar provides NCC facility. The NCC is one of the largest youth organizations of India with more than 12 lakhs cadets on the roll. The NCC aims to develop character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service in the youth. It also aims at creating a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including Armed Forces. Students who join the NCC as cadets are given training in various skills like handling fire arms, leadership, adventure sports etc. The cadets can also get an opportunity to attend the Republic Day Parade at Delhi, Thal Sena Camp, Army Attachment Camp (subject to selection).
The fine arts and cultural activity units of Vithalbhai Patel and RPTP Science College - Vallabh Vidyanagar identifies talented students through talent hunt shows and prepares them to represent the college in the inter-college Youth Festival organized by Sardar Patel University. The students get a chance to perform in group dances, mono acting, one act plays, group songs, classical vocal, classical instrumental, light music, poster making, clay modeling etc. Some selected students can also get an opportunity to represent the university at the national level.

Sports also inculcate the spirit of discipline, hard work, and team work. It also teaches the sportsman to accept defeat gracefully. So the sports unit of our college organizes intra-college and inter-college tournaments in basketball, volley ball, badminton, kabbadi, kho-kho, table-tennis, foot ball and cricket. Out of these, selected students also get an opportunity to represent the University at the State and National level. The college also organizes the annual sports day for track and field events.
