Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa was established in June, 1992, by Shri Marutraoji Ghule Patil Education Society, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Bhende, with an objective of providing higher education facilities to the students hailing from remote villages, economically backward and socially deprived classes. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa has initially started as college of science, offering courses only in science factulty, but the sociological and cultural need of the students resulted in the commencement of the Arts faculty in the college from June 1994. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa aims to provide educational facilities to the economically backward and rehabilitated project affected students. The major objective of this college is to encourage and motivate these classes for intellectual, moral, social and academic growth, to impart education while motivating them to seek higher education.
Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa is situated at Post - Bhende Bk, Tal.: Newasa, Dist.: Ahmednagar, Maharastra. The college campus (25 Acres) is dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around. It has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. The college is approved under Section 2 (f) and Section 12 (b) of the UGC act. It is accredited at 'B' grade by the NAAC. At present the college has 28 teaching and 11 non-teaching administrative staff. The college has Science and Arts faculties and offers instructions at graduate level.
The Central library houses around 13,530 books and references. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa subscribes to a large number of periodicals and journals. It has a photocopying facility which is open to staff and students for use. The library has a spacious reading hall, which can accommodate about 50 students at a time. The students can sit there and refer books, journals and newspapers, etc. Since the college library is the main centre for students to carry out their scholastic activities, care is taken to keep it open for maximum number of days and hours.
Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa has its own well-equipped hostels for Boys and Girls with all basic facilities. The hostel accommodation is available for students in separate boys and girls hostel. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa has a separate boys hostel, house in a spacious building. It accommodates 100 boys. Important facilities available in the boys hostels are hot water, filtered drinking water, canteen, indoor games, news papers, Earn and Learn scheme, etc. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa girls hostel comprises of two spacious buildings and accommodates 150 girl students. All rooms are well furnished. Important facilities available in these hostels are Hot water through Solar system, filtered water for drinking, Mess, canteen, T.V., film (cinema) projection, reading room, indoor games, newspapers, S.T.D. booth, first aid , electric power generator, Earn and Learn scheme, etc.
Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa has spacious play grounds for playing games like Football, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, and Badminton. The college has also a well equipped gymnasium, 400 ,100 meter standard running Track, Cricket ,Long Jump Track and Shot-put Arena. A separate gymnasium hall (668.30 Sq. Meter) well equipped with gymnastics and physical conditioning equipments are available solely for the students. This hall is also utilized for playing indoor games like basketball, Badminton, wrestling table tennis, carrom, chess and gymnastics etc. Graduate students and Hostelites will have to compulsorily undergo medical checkup as per the University directive. The schedule of the medical check-up is notified after the commencement of the first term. Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa authorities have also made available the services of an Honorary Medical Officer who shall be available in the nearby Dnyaneshwar Rural Public Health Centre, Bhende.
Jijamata college of Science and Arts – Nevasa has a separate placement cell. This department is constantly in touch with various sources of employment information and informs it to the students regularly by displaying it on notice boards. It is also constantly in touch with the industries to explore the possibilities of recruitment and impart vocational training to the student.
