Within the framework of such philanthropic ideas, Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak was opened to provide the light of knowledge to the girls of nearby areas, specially the daughters of poor farmers and other downtrodden sections of the society. Since its inception in 1988, the college has covered numerous milestones of glorious achievements. The very motto of the college ‘Arise, Awake and achieve’ implies a journey from the dark labyrinths of ignorance to the luminous vistas of knowledge.
Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak is one of the premier Women Institutions of Haryana established in 1988 by then President of Jat Education Society, Ch. Uday Singh Mann, after the name of legendary Maharani Kishori, Queen of Maharaja Surajmal, the Jat Emperor of Delhi. Maharani Kishori who has become an icon of velour and grit, a symbol of indomitable courage and undaunted spirit in hour of crisis.
The founders of Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak wished to inculcate the virtues of courage and confidence in all rural girls. Since then this institution has been accomplishing the missionary task of imparting the light of knowledge to this deprived section of society primarily to the rural girls of Haryana with a commitment to convert this weaker section of society into the strength of the nation by enabling them to discover their inherent potential and innate qualities and instilling in them a passion for lifelong learning. The main objective of the college is to groom young talents into skilled knowledgeable and capacitated women who with commitment, confidence and competence will exhibit the highest standards of ethical behaviors in every walk of life and turn every difficulty into an opportunity to move ahead towards perfection. All activities connected with the college are consciously correlated to our collective aim of producing empowered women fully endowed materially and intellectually.
There are 26 Lecturers in Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak working on regular basis in different faculties. All are qualified as per UGC norms. 14 faculty members are having PH.D. Degree and 9 are having M.Phil degree. The institution appoints Guest Faculty in various subjects on requirement basis. There are 24 non-teaching staff members comprising of laboratory attendant, library staff, head clerk, clerk, peons and hostel staff. The whole staff of the office is well conversant with the computer operations.
Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak is located at Rohtak, Haryana. Man is always in the quest of knowledge and books serve as a guiding light to us in our voyage through life. Keeping this aspect in view, Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak has established a modern library. The reading room of the library has the capacity to accommodate 200 readers at a time. It has a good qualitative collection of 13,000 books, 42 periodicals and 12 daily newspapers. During this session, books worth Rs. 3,00,000/- were purchased and 5 new journals were subscribed. We have a book bank to give books for the whole session to the meritorious and economically weaker students. Internet facility is provided to the staff and students. Computerization of library is in progress and is likely to be completed by the coming session.
Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak has two hostel buildings which can accommodate 500 girls. The hostel has a spacious dining hall, girls’ common room, yoga room etc. having all modern amenities. The facilities like TV, indoor games, newspaper, and magazines etc. have been provided in the common room. The hostel facility has proven a boon to the girls, as they have been relieved from the hectic schedule of daily commuting in over-crowed buses. Distinguished students in various fields are provided special fee concession.
Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak organizes various cultural activities from time to time and the performance of the students is quite praiseworthy. The College celebrates Teej festival in which Haryanvi dance, Haryanvi songs, Mehandi competitions are the main attractions. To reveal the hidden talent of students, ‘Talent Search Function’ is organized in the beginning of the session every year. Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak students participate in Zonal Youth Festival in various items like dance, poetic recitation, Haryanvi Skit, Mono Acting, Declamation, Rangoli etc. Recommended teams are sent to Inter-Zonal Youth Festival. Our students also participate in Haryana Day celebration organized by KUK and MDU, Rohtak. The College itself organizes Inter-College Competitions. Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak provides Diploma, Bachelor Degree and Master Degree to the college students.
Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya - Rohtak is quite active and regularly informs the students regarding various employment avenues and helps them in job placement. Extension lectures by this cell is being organised on regular intervals on the topic ‘Job Opportunities’ by experts such as Employment Officers.
