Mai Bhago Polytechnic College for Girls – Amritsar is situated near Majitha bye pass on the outskirts of the holy city of Amritsar. The foundation stone of this college was laid by the late Hon'ble Chief Minister S. Beant Singh on July 3, 1994. College is under the administrative control of the Directorate of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab. The State Government met with the entire expenditure on the construction of building, equipment and establishment etc. which was reimbursed by the World Bank.
The Basic objective of Mai Bhago Polytechnic College for Girls – Amritsar is to impart the technical education and make students self sufficient & self-reliant to get right employment opportunities and placement and also to arrange the industrial visits, extension lectures and teaching aids to motivate students to adapt new technology.

Principal of Mai Bhago Polytechnic College for Girls – Amritsar is responsible for overall planning and management of the academic and administrative activities of the institute including optimal utilization of resources. Principal is the implementing authority of plans and polices of the Government notified from time to time. Principal performs the duties of Head of the office at the institute level. He is the competent authority for all cases of group D employees. Cases of group A, B& C also require the approval of Head of Institute before sending for the final approval at the Head Office. Some cases are disposed at the level of Principal and the cases, which require approval of Director or Government, are sent to the Head Office by the Principal.
