The Trident School of Biotech Sciences (TSBS) is a unit of Trident Academy of Creative Technology – TACT Bhubaneswar which has commenced operation w.e.f. the academic session 2002-03. This is a full-fledged college, distinct and different from the MCA college of TACT. The first course introduced in TSBS was the M.Sc (Biotechnology) course in the session 2002-03, simultaneously with the PG Dept of Utkal University. Since then, this course has continued with the approval of the State Govt.
Trident Academy of Creative Technology – TACT Bhubaneswar in due course, other courses of M.Sc (Bioinformatics), B.Sc (Hons) Biotechnology and finally M.Sc (Medical Biotechnology) has been introduced in TSBS. The institution is located at the permanent campus of the Trident Group (Trident Technoplex) at F2(A&B), Chandaka Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar-24, right in front of the Info city of Bhubaneswar, behind Sailashree Vihar. Trident Academy of Creative Technology – TACT Bhubaneswar has been attracting students from the entire Eastern India i.e. Orissa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam and North East and in a recent survey; this has been adjudged as the No.1 Biotechnology college of Eastern India. Trident Academy of Creative Technology – TACT Bhubaneswar offers different kind of bachelor and master courses leading to different streams.

The Trident group of institutions is setting up a centralized Learning Resource Centre (LRC) providing facilities on all the above under one roof which is coming up in the Trident Technoplex (Centre Stage). However, till the facility goes online, each institution of the group provides for individual library facilities.

With mushrooming of Biotechnology colleges in self-financing modes, it has become difficult for most such institutions to have permanent teaching faculty. Therefore, both Govt and private institutions are either engaging contractual lecturers or are assigning certain modules to outsiders (Lecturers/Readers/Professors of other organisations). Due to such heavy dependence on outsiders, the quality of absorption of knowledge on the part of the students suffers heavily because, such outsiders are not available in the institution to the students as and when they want and they do not usually help in the LABS.

While taking admission in the college, parents and students come with high expectations and some aspirations. For the time being, separate canteen and cafeteria facilities are available for TAT and TACT. Whereas the TAT canteen serves South Indian Snacks and breakfast a long with Oriya style lunch, the cafeteria provides dry snacks.

Although the cost of treatment is always to be borne by the concerned student / parents, eventually, the immediate expenditure is always incurred by the college.
