Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon was founded in the year 1957, has completed fifty years of its existence. The growth of the institution has been remarkable. The College today stands like a colossus, proud of the thousands of alumni that adorn positions of prominence in all walks of life, thanks to the education that they received in their alma mater. The Golden Jubilee of the College was an opportunity for everyone who had passed through its corridors to revisit their temple of learning and contribute to its growth to achieve greater glory. The college celebrated the Silver Jubilee in 1981-82. Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon was conferred autonomous status by UGC in 1992-93. The college celebrated the Golden Jubilee in 2007. Govt Digvijay College offers UG courses, PG courses, add on courses and vocational courses.

One Hostel is providing accommodation to students. IGNOU study centre and Dr. C.V. Raman University study Centre is functioning in Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon campus. Extension activities like NSS and youth Red Cross provide opportunity to the students for social service. Reputed academicians are visiting the college to attend seminars and conferences. A very cordial teacher-taught relationship is a major strength of this college.
Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon is most appropriately christened as a fitting tribute to the eminent ruler of erstwhile Rajnandgaon State Late Raja Digvijay Das who remains a constant source of inspiration for our young students. His bronze bust installed in front of the college continues to encourage and enlighten the young minds to strive to fathom as yet unexplored areas of knowledge.
Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon has a big library with the following facilities: Text Books and Other Books, Journals & periodicals, News Papers, Titles in the library, Xerox Machine, Computer. Reference books are available in the Library. Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Yearbooks, Manuals, Directories, Books for Competitive Examinations, Self-Improvement books, Books on Leadership, Time Management, and Self-Confidence are also available for reference on the reference section. All students and staffs are allowed in the Reference Section on all working days. The library is in the process of automation.
Sports and games facilities are offered to every student of Govt Digvijay College – Rajnandgaon who desires to develop his or her potential, abilities and qualities of sportsmanship. The college has an eminent Sports Officer who is a post graduate in Physical Education. He remains present in the college both in the morning and afternoon hours and imparts physical training to the students. Under his guidance students play cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, etc. We have a play ground for the purpose, a volleyball court and a Badminton court. We have already submitted a proposal for a multigym. Besides the Sports Officer a group of teachers look after the games and sports. They conduct inter college competitions and organize Annual sports meet.
