In addition to promoting BUAA's artistic side, the ensemble has represented the university in various contests and received remarkable honors. BUAA's volleyball team, famous for its excellent performance, has won championships in the All China college volleyball contests many times.
The Beihang University– BUAA Beijing Library has been open for use since 1952. The total area of the Library is currently 1,8000 square meters. The main body is a six-story building, in bright white color. One annex is besides the main building. The Library is basically open 80.2 hours a week. Beihang University– BUAA Beijing Library houses the collections of books, the subscribed journals and other special documents (such as technical reports). It now has approximately 1,200,000 volumes of books, 1,235 periodical titles and hundreds of newspapers, and more than 60,000 items of non-paper materials, including CD-ROM's, micro-films, microfiches, videotapes, audio tapes, audio CD's, Laser Disks, CD-titles, etc. In the Library, we have more than 2000 reading seats, including carrels, spreading throughout the building, and 13 reading-rooms, 2 study rooms, and one classroom. The Library is operated in open-shelf system. Library services include Borrowing, Library Card Application, Copying, Library Instruction and Training, Information Courses, Document Supply Service (Inter-Library Loan), Recommending Materials, Information and Reference Services.Students in Beihang University– BUAA Beijing come from different provinces of China, so there are plenty of cultural diversities and mixture of dialect in the campus. Students have the chance to enlarge their social network during their study.
Beihang University– BUAA Beijing has 48 undergraduate programs, 144 masters' programs, 49 doctoral programs, and 14 postdoc stations. At present, the university has 26 schools and departments. Total number of faculty and staff are over 3300, including 14 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 1700 full or associate professors, 476 supervisors of doctorate programs. Beihang University– BUAA Beijing is home of 23,000 undergrad and graduate students, and about 300 international students. It has 89 laboratories including 1 National Lab and 2 State Key Laboratory.
