Over the years, M S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management has emerged as a Centre of Excellence in Media Education. Managed by a registered Trust - M.S. Panwar Foundation- the Institute offers Graduate and Post-Graduate degree programmes in Journalism, Mass Communication, Radio and TV Journalism, Advertising & Public Relations, Personnel Management & Industrial Relations, Tour and Travel Management, BBA and MBA. Diploma courses to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. The Institute is a pioneer in setting up the first Community College in this part of the country.
The M S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management is named after late Shri. M.S. Panwar, sportsman, sports organizer and social worker and has been set up to organise quality education, training and research in journalism, mass media, advertising, media management and related fields. It aspires to be the first-of-its-kind training institution in this part of the country giving exposure to media-persons and budding journalists on social issues and other problems specific to the country and the region. Besides conducting media courses, the Institute can boast of a vibrant Development Communication unit giving exposure to the students for being part of an integrated media. Ideas like Community Radio and TV studio, Web-based media and newspapers and magazines that can become part of community development and growth have been put in action by the Institute. The Institute in collaboration with an International NGO - One World South Asia started a Grassroots level Development Communication project in 15 isolated villages situated on Karol hill, 15 K.M. from Solan near Kandaghat.
The M S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management has been granted a license for setting up a Community Radio Station (FM) in its campus. This would provide exposure to our students and broaden their perspective and horizon on social issues. The institute and its projects are gender sensitive and both men and women are involved in all the ventures. It provides a pollution free, vibrant, academic environment to the students. A scholarship scheme for outstanding performers based on merit-cum-means basis is also one of the institute’s student-friendly initiatives. The Vikas Panwar and Dr. Seema Bathla Memorial Scholarship Awards are granted to one male and one female student of every batch.The Institute has an effective Placement and Career Guidance Cell which helps the students for suitable placements. M S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management is a pioneer in the field of Community Radio- being the first institution in Himachal Pradesh to get a licence for Community FM Radio. Through this initiative, MSPICM seeks to serve the community residing in a radius of 15kms from the institute. It would also help in grooming professionals in broadcast journalism. The students of the institute would get hands-on experience in script writing, reporting and editing for radio. They would thus be exposed to the real experience of working in radio studios/stations.
The Audio Video Lab of M S Panwar Institute of Communication and Management allows students the facilities of Editing via software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Edius Canopus and Sound Editing software like Adobe Audition and Nuendo 3. Students willing to make use of the lab are allowed to do so during college hours.

The Dark Room, intended for developing pictures, is instrumental in teaching students the art of picture composition and developing.

The library has a rich collection of books on mass media, culture, fiction, biographies, politics, economics, history, sociology etc. Apart from professional journals, prominent foreign, national and local newspapers, in Hindi and English, are subscribed for the library.
