MP Nachimuthu M Jaganathan Engineering College – Erode for what it is today has its origin dating back to the year 1984. The noble idea of starting an educational institution was conceived in this year by the philanthropists, Padmashri M.P.Nachimuthu and Udyog Rattan J.Sudhanandhen, son of Thiru. M.Jaganathan, an ardent follower of the former. This idea took the shape of a Polytechnic and it was started in the year 1984 with three branches. MP Nachimuthu M Jaganathan Engineering College – Erode is approved by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), New Delhi and Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Due to the untiring efforts of the educationists and obsessive thought of Thiru. J.Sudhanandhen, MP Nachimuthu M Jaganathan Engineering College – Erode was upgraded to an Engineering college in 2001 with five branches – Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering with each of 60 intake. Master of Business Administration(M.B.A) Programme was also started in 2005. In the academic year 2007-2008, B.Tech Information Technology Branch in UG and Master of Computer Application in PG were also started with intake of 60 each and also in the year 2008 – ’09 a Post Graduate course namely, ME(Structural Engineering) – with an intake of 18 and there is an increased intake in UG ECE & CSE course from 60 to 90.

Our college has a very spacious play ground of 10 acres which includes 400 mts Standard track, Cricket field, Football field, Hockey field, Volleyball, Kabaddy, Ball Batminton, Kho-Kho and Hand Ball Courts, well-equipped 16 multi - station gym for men and 6 for women. There are various Indoor games like Table Tennis, Chess, Carrrom and etc. MP Nachimuthu M Jaganathan Engineering College – Erode offers different kind of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
A well planned, systematic placement center is functioning from the year 2001 onwards with an experienced professor as placement officer and a fulltime faculty as placement coordinator. The cell regularly arranges-personality development programmes, mock interviews, implant training and industrial visits for students. Workshops on entrepreneurship is conducted every year for the students at regular intervals. Job Mela is conducted and many students are gainfully employed in MNCs, and reputed core industries.
