SM College – Moradabad was founded as a High School in 1908 in the memory of Late Sahu Shyamsundar by his mother Late Mrs Tulsa Devi and his wife Late Rani Ramkali, KIH. Late Sahu Shyamsundar was brother of great grandfather of the present Honorary Secretary Sahu Shantanu Kumar. SM College – Moradabad quickly earned fame and witnessed quick growth. Intermediate classes were started in 1923, graduation classes in 1946 and postgraduate classes in 1951. At present 10 subjects are being taught at postgraduate level. It also offers diploma courses. Golden Jubilee of the college was celebrated with great fervour in 1968.
SM College – Moradabad is situated at Station Road – Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The college occupies a prime position among the colleges of the State. A huge temple of Lord Ram is located inside SM College – Moradabad campus. Discourses on Ramayana and Gita are organised at the temple for moral upliftment of the students. The college gives excellent results. Several students from the college hold positions almost every year in the merit list of MJP Rohilkhand University.
SM College – Moradabad has several buildings, beautiful lawns, huge playgrounds, hostels and library. It has got well equipped laboratories for subjects Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Military Science and B Ed. SM College – Moradabad library is complete with useful books. Several daily newspapers and magazines are subscribed in the reading room. The college also has got facility of book bank. The students may use this facility by becoming its member. Only limited number of books are issued from the library.
Rani Ramkali Hostel situated inside SM College – Moradabad is equipped with all the facilities needed by students. Outstation candidates may seek admission in the hostel with the permission of Dr YPS Chauhan, Chief Hostel Superintendent, and Dr Pravin Kumar, Hostel Superintendent, and continue their studies. The hostel can house 110 students. The fee for hostel is Rs 3,000 per annum. Newly constructed mess is also there for the students.
Appropriate parking facilities exist for the students in SM College – Moradabad . The parking facility is maintained by a contractor. Students and college staff part their vehicles at the parking slot. Only contractor is responsible for the theft of the vehicles and the cost of the vehicle is realised from the contractor.
