S M Joshi College - Pune was started with 86 students in 1986 to impart education to all classes of society especially to the poor and the downtrodden which is the mission of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha founded by late Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil. The management wants to establish one of the advanced and well-equipped educational centres in the jurisdiction of Pune University to meet the goals in globalization context. It started with Science faculty and as the need of the hour; it also started Arts and Commerce faculties in 1989. In the last twenty two years the college has developed in various aspects. The college imparts quality education and is working for the welfare of students. The new trends in education are well adopted by the college. S M Joshi College - Pune has started PG. department in English and Marathi in 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively. The college also has developed B.C.A. in 2007-08.
S M Joshi College - Pune is situated at Hadapsar Pune, Maharashtra. There are 29 permanent teachers and 18 teachers on clock hour basis and 13 administrative staff. The faculty in S M Joshi College - Pune is well motivated by the research culture. Seven teachers have received the research grants from University of Pune. Some of the teachers are in authorial positions on University bodies and social bodies. The college volunteered for NACC exercise in Nov. 2003 and has received the outcome of it is B+ Grade. Besides UG & PG courses, the college also runs short-term and long-term certificate courses which are offered to the students according to their choice. The basic computer courses are also available to students.
S M Joshi College - Pune has got 4.35 acres of land out of which 36000 sq. ft. construction has been completed. It consists of Parking, Ground Floor and First Floor with 21 class rooms. The college has developed a computer lab with 25 computers for B.C.A. and of 10 computers for MSCIT.The library plays a central role in helping college achieve its mission of providing students a quality education.
Beyond its immediate responsibility to provide the information services and resources that support the courses of study offered at the college, the library has the broader mission of fostering in our students the importance and necessity of lifelong learning. S M Joshi College - Pune library adequately equipped with books covering wide range of disciplines of academic and non-academic interest. The college also subscribes for international and national journals, periodicals and newspapers for the students and faculty members at the college library.
