Noble College – Machilipatnam is one of the oldest Institutions in India started by Christian Missionaries. It began as school founded in 1843 by Rev.Robert Turlington Noble, who was sent by Church Missionary Society in England for Education and Evangelistic work. In 1864 Noble College – Machilipatnam was raised to the College grade, affiliated to Madras University. It flourished as the Leading College in South India until 1938. Lindsay Commission (1938) suggested that Noble College, Machilipatnam and Andhra Christian College, Guntur should be merged and a united College be started at Vijayawada. Accordingly, Noble College was closed in 1938, but the proposed College at Vijayawada did not materialize.

Noble College – Machilipatnam was the cradle for many great sons of India. They include Dr. B. Pattabhi Sitaramaiah, President of Indian National Congress, Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Founder of Andhra Bank, Sri.Mutnuri Krishna Rao - Freedom fighter and Editor Krishna Pathrica, Sri. Kasu Brahmananda Reddy - former Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Union Home Minister, Governor of Maharashtra, Sri. Koka Subba Rao, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Smt. Kamala Satyanathan, the first woman graduate from Madras University and also first Indian Woman English Novelist.
Sri.Viswanadha Satyanarayana - veteran poet and Gnanapeet Awardee and host of others who occupied important positions in the state and Central Government. In these 41 years,the Noble College – Machilipatnam has been a leading educational institution, serving all sections of community. Post-Graduate Courses like M.Sc., (Mathematics) and M.Sc., (Chemistry) were started in the year 2003-2004. We hope that the College will grow from strength to strength catering to the contemporary needs in the field of education under the leadership of its Chairman and Correspondent Rt. Rev. Dr. Govada Dyvasirvadam, M.A., M.Th., Ph.D., who was the former student of the institution.

Objectives of Noble College – Machilipatnam is to offer undergraduate programmes in Science, Arts and Commerce and postgraduate programmes in Science. To arrange guest lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia on academic topics and to conduct educational tours, field trips and industrial visits to stimulate the academic environment of the institution. To involve, all the stake holders for instituting scholarships and awards to economically backward students, who are meritorious. And objective is to organize academic outreach and social outreach programmes with the faculty and students. To encourage class room discussion on current issues like Social, Political, National and International to train the students to think out new solutions to the issues. Noble College – Machilipatnam also have a objective to celebrate days of national and international importance to highlight social issues, behavioral patterns affecting attitudinal changes, encouraging healthy sentiments like communal harmony and social concerns. To encourage the students to think for themselves and educate themselves, utilizing the library facility, so as to enable them to acquire quality education.

A library well stocked with all the necessary volumes is available at the student's disposal. It is the synthesis of theories with working knowledge, together avenues to exploit all the available resources; we can mould our students into thorough professionals, who would become the leaders of their profession.
