SRR and CVR Govt College - Vijayawada is spread over an area of seven acres of land situated in a prime locality of Machavaram, which is in the corporation limits of vijayawada. The main building of the college were constructed between 1940 and 1942 and were inaugurated on 7-2-1942 by the then Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, waltair Dr.Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy. M.A. (Cantab) D.Litt., a distinguished educationalist and an intellectual gaint of the times. This was the first ever SRR and CVR Govt College - Vijayawada establishment in Vijayawada and since then it has been a part of the academic, intellectual, social and cultural history of vijayawada.
The Aim of the
SRR and CVR Govt College - Vijayawada is to provide qualitative higher education to the students of the region particularly those coming from economically poor, backward and other oppressed classes keeping in view the avowed policies of the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and the guidelines given by the commissioner of Collegiate Education, A.P. from time to time, to train the students in various vocational and other skills and also to inculcate social and cultural values.
