Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi is one of the premiere higher educational institution in Hailakandi. It was established on 18th September 1950. At that time Hailakandi was a subdivision of Cachar District but now it can be said that, this particular institution is the oldest higher educational institution in the present Hailakandi district. The college was named Srikishan Sarda College, after the name of the father of Srichand Sarda, who donated Rs. 15,000.00 to Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi fund at those initial days. The land of the Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi was donated by Late Pratap Chandra Nath, former Deputy Inspector (D.I) of schools.

The Science stream of the college started in the year 1958 and the college celebrates its golden jubilee for science stream in the year 2008 also. Presently the Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi is running with both arts and science faculty simultaneously. Besides these the college is running career oriented courses like Industrial Fish and Fisheries (With On job training) and Biotechnology ( A self financing program supported by UGC).
Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi is running both arts and science faculty. Though the college started its journey with the arts faculty only in the year 1950, but later on in the year 1958, it started its science faculty. Recently the college take initiative to run some career oriented program under both the stream, and accordingly started a career oriented program viz Industrial Fish and fishery under Zoology department of the
Srikishan Sarda College - SS College Hailakandi. One more career oriented program namely Biotechnology is going to be started from the ensuing session under the Department of Botany. The Career oriented program Biotechnology will be a self financing program.
Besides these the college has one more career oriented self financing program of Computer Education. This particular program is running under the computer center of the college.
