Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College - West Godavari was established on 04/8/1974. The University granted affiliation at UG level for both 1st and 2nd year B.A., and B.Com in the year of inception itself based on the Cabinet Resolution of Government of Andhra Pradesh. During the year 1978, B.Sc was introduced with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Botany, Zoology, Chemistry. B.Sc Electronics was introduced in the year 1984. Later as part of introduction of restructured programmes, Computer Science at UG level, for the first time in the state of Andhra Pradesh was introduced in the year 1986.

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College - West Godavari PG programmes of Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A) was introduced in 1992-93, Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) in 1993, Master of Science (Industrial Chemistry) in 1993, Master of Arts (M.A)(Political Science) in 1995, Master of Science (M.Sc) (Computer Science) in 1998. Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College - West Godavari has achieved its endeavor of bringing Higher Education closer to the rural people. Master of Science (M.Sc)(Mathematics) was introduced in 2003, Master of Science (M.Sc)(Organic Chemistry) and Master of Science (Zoology) were introduced from 2005.
Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College - West Godavari has in its possession nearly 14 acres of land with permanent buildings and spacious play grounds encircled by a strong compound wall. The landscape garden provides a feast to the eyes. The strength of the students as on today is 1957, which shows constant increase since the inception of the institution. 30% of the total strength forms the girl students. Non-Resident center for girls is provided.

Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari and Dr Kalidindi Suryanarayana Raju Arts and Science College - West Godavari conducts interactive sessions for students on soft skills and pursuit of Higher Education. This cell offers guidance to the students who wish to appear for competitive examinations like GATE, NET, AUCET, ICET, etc. Facilities are provided through a mini library equipped with reference books, material for various competitive examinations, journals, magazines and periodicals. The cell arranges lectures by inviting personnel from industries / organizations. Departments of Management Studies and PG Computer Science are in constant touch with leading organizations and several students were selected in the off-campus interviews conducted by Multi-National Companies.
